On Sept. 1, 1980, Terry Fox had to stop running his Marathon of Hope. He had run 3339 miles and had approximately 1961 miles left. I was 11 and promised to one day complete the run. I do not want to take any of the credit from Terry Fox or the foundation but I want to satisfy that idealistic wish from my childhood. I’m challenging myself to run 6 days/week until I reach 1961 miles.
It will have to be a virtual run because I don’t have the ability or time to run from Thunder Bay to Victoria. I will therefore track my miles (see sidebar) so you will be able to see the accumulation.
Please help me
Terry Fox run a marathon a day! 1961 miles would have taken him about 2.5 months. I currently run half a marathon a week – so 1961 miles should take about 3 years. So I would like to include a group challenge.

The plan/rules
I (and hopefully you) will run 6 days a week. We need to take a day for rest.
I’m not yet fit enough to run every day so I will start with 4 days/week of running. To fulfill my commitment to the challenge, I will walk for 30 minutes on the other two days. These walks will be time set aside for exercise (not walking to work) so when it is safe for me to increase running mileage, the time will be available.
For now, we will fill out our mileage here and each Sunday, I will show the progress.
