worst walk of shame

I think the morning after a Halloween costume has to be a difficult walk home. This morning I got to see Tinkerbell walking home. It wasn’t a particularly revealing costume but it was definitely beat up (see wings below). Tinkerbell had mascara down to her cheekbones and the air of trying to get home after a long night. I would have taken photos but I think she would have cried. You will...

What is a good schedule?

OK, I haven’t been very good at improving my running. But it is time to get serious! I thought about joining a running group but a) I’m very slow and b) I go between Vancouver and New York so it is hard to be consistent. So, for now, I’m starting slow on my own.  I’m going to start at 5 minute running intervals with one minute of walking. Each week I will add 1 minute to...

freaking sick

This really sucks. I’ve been sick for over a week! I’ve managed to get out walking but it isn’t the same as running. This has given me new appreciation for Terry Fox’s drive and fitness. I hope to get to become more fit so I don’t have to resort to walking but can just do shorter jogs. I’ll let you know when I get back to jogging… I’ll probably...

Does the slower person have the right of way?

I saw a cyclist hit a runner today.  The runner had just turned onto a shared bike/run path and the cyclist yelled to get out of the way but didn’t change direction or slow down.  The runner heard the yelling so stopped to see what the fuss was – and got smucked.  The cyclist got up yelling that it was all her fault. Was it? In Vancouver, the faster moving person has to swerve...

wimp?

I can’t believe that I’m going to admit this but… I have sore heels. Not from running but from wearing cute new shoes. I scraped the back of the heels and now they hurt when running! That would have been OK – could have gone through it – but I was also suffering from migraines all weekend. So, with movement limited by my head and silly sores on my heels, I ended...
